RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 31, 2021—Post positions draws for the All American Futurity(G1), All American Derby(G1) and All American Oaks, to be conducted over the Labor Day weekend, were held on Monday at Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino.

The $3-million All American Futurity(G1) will be contested as race No. 11 on Ruidoso Downs Monday race card.

Jess Savin Candy, who will attempt to become the second horse in history to win the Triple Crown for two-year-old Quarter Horses in Ruidoso, drew post 7. The only horse to achieve that feat is Special Effort in 1981.

John Stinebaugh trains Jess Savin Candy and Francisco Calderon is the jockey. The son of leading second-crop sire Jess Good Candy is owned by Dutch Masters III. Jim and Donna O'Neal bred the impressive gedling in Oklahoma from the Pappasito mare Savin Grace.

"He's a great horse," Calderon said of Jess Savin Candy. "He's getting better all the time."

All American Derby

The All American Derby features 10 horses and is also a Grade 1, 440-yard quarter horse race. The All American Derby will be race No. 11 on Sunday with an estimated post time of 4:42 p.m. (MDT).

Empressum, the winner of the Grade 1 Ruidoso QH Derby and Grade 1 Rainbow QH Derby(G1), also qualified for the All American Derby and has a chance to become the fourth horse iin history to win the Ruidoso Triple Crown for the three-year-old Division.

The son of leading sire Apollitiacal Jess, a homebred racing for Jeff Jones and Steve Holt, will start from the No. 2 post for trainer Heath Taylor and jockey Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo.

Taylor also has Mister Illusion and Shott Gun entered in the race and they will start from the No. 3 and 4 posts, respectively.

"All three horses are doing great," Taylor said. "It's been a long, hard summer but they all have lots of energy and pop left in them."

The Oaks is a 440-yard race for three-year-old quarter horse fillies. Reigning AQHA Racing World Champion Whistle Stop Cafe, who won last year's All American Futurity and this year's Rainbow Oaks, drew the No. 3 post for jockey Tanner Thedford and trainer Trey Wood.

The daughter of multiple stakes sire Freighttrain B, owned by Whitmire Ranch, will face nine rivals. AQHA Champion breeder Bobby D. Cox bred the gray filly from the Mr Jess Perry mare Sinuous.

The All American Oaks is the 10th race on Sunday's card, expected to run at 4:12 p.m. (MDT).

Wood has three horses entered the race. In My Heart will start from the No. 5 post and Hollyn Bootie will start from the No. 6 post.
