The traffic was moving slow Monday getting to Ruidoso Downs Race Track on Labor Day for the long awaited $3,000,000 All American Quarter Horse Futurity-G1.

There were 12 races scheduled at Ruidoso Downs, but race 11 was the one everyone had been waiting for. The two top Quarter Horse races for the day were the All American Futurity-G1 and All American Juvenile. Dr. Glenn Blodgett, President of the American Quarter Horse Association led the post parade of the All American Futurity. Also, Monday’s race card marked the last day of racing for jockey Casey Lambert. The rider is hanging up his hat, but not before he won his very last race – the Labor Day Thoroughbred Claiming Race.

The All American Futurity-G1 is for two year olds who have qualified for the finals from 2 days of trials with the top 5 times from each day. The winner, JESS GOOD CANDY, is unbeaten in 4 starts. He clocked a time of :21.414 in front of nearly 24,000 in attendance. The order of finish is as follows…

1. JESS GOOD CANDY (Good Reason SA-Jess Send Candy, Mr Jess Perry), Owner Estate of Carl C. Pevehouse, Trainer Clinton Crawford, Jockey Ivan Carnero, Breeder Carl C. Pevehouse   Earning $1,260,000.
2. ONE FABULOUS EAGLE (One Famous Eagle-Ladys Heart Of Gold, Strawfly Special), Owner Darling Farms, Trainer Kasey Willis,  Jockey Cesar Gomez, Breeder Christine Hudson  earning $540,000.
3. TF IM THAT GUY (First Down Dash-TF Ms Special Perry, Special Leader), Owner Victor Diaz, Trainer Juan Gonzalez, Jockey Joe Badilla, Jr., Breeder Vessels SF, LLC/Tate Farms   Earning $300,000
Followed by First Valiant Sign earning $240,000, Sky Bo Dash earning $180,000, Crooked Path earning $150,000, Hatefulist earning $97,500, McClintock B earning $90,000, Lethal Volcom earning $75,000 and Giving It All earning $67,000.

Earlier in the day, Race 6, the $200,000 All American Juvenile was held. The Juvenile is for the fastest five from 2 days of trials that did not qualify to the All American-G1 Futurity. BV MIDNITE EXPRESS clocked a :21.588 time to win the Juvenile. The order of finish is as follows…

2. JESS B HEROIC (Valiant Hero-Jess B Mighty, Mr Jess Perry), Owners Joe Dee Brooks, Scott Bryant & Derrol Hubbard, Trainer Michael Joiner, Jockey G. R. Carter, Jr., Breeder Homer Hill   Earning $36,000
3. STEAKINJESS FOR LMG (Mr Jess Perry-Kool As Ever, Chicks Beduino), Owner LMG Racing, Inc., Trainer Chris Zamora, Jockey Jaime Parga Leos, Breeders Dan & Erin Knox   Earning $20,000.
