Meet The Staff

President, 2010 - Present
John is owner and manager of Speedhorse magazine. The purchase of Speedhorse in 2010 led to his return to Quarter Horse racing, prior to which time for the past 25 years his concentration was primarily in the cattle and ranch horse industry. Under John’s direction, Speedhorse has implemented the Paint and Appaloosa Triple Crown and High Point Champion Award, as well as the Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award.

Consulting Editor, 1997 - Present
Bachelor of Business Administration, with Distinction, University of Oklahoma. Gloria arrived at Speedhorse with a well-grounded combination of hands-on business and horse knowledge. She previously worked as a stockbroker, and received the National Pen Women's Award. She has been involved in racing and showing horses for many years and has been an integral member of the Speedhorse team for the past 18-years.

Editor, 2015 - Present
Emily was born and raised in Southern California where she was introduced to the horse racing industry when she was hired as a trainer's assistant at Los Alamitos Racecourse in 2013. Emily relocated to Oklahoma with her family and joined the Speedhorse team in July of 2015. She has immersed herself in the varied aspects of the publishing industry, and has become a vital member of our group.

Sales Manager/Sales Representative, 2018 - Present
Born and raised in Quebec, Canada, Myriam Maynard earned her Degree in Digital Design and worked in some of Montreal’s finest marketing agencies. Horses always held a special place in her heart, and she came to the U.S. to pursue her dream of finding a place in the horse industry. From working as an assistant cutting trainer to breeding farm office manager, she soon became immersed in the horse industry. Myriam came to Speedhorse in 2018 and has quickly made herself an integral part of the team. In her spare time, Myriam enjoys spending time tooling leather and riding good horses.

Accounting/Subscriptions, 2019-Present
In May 2019, Heather and her family relocated to Oklahoma where Heather would immediately join the Speedhorse team. With more than a decade of corporate bookkeeping experience, Heather brings to Speedhorse a plethora of vital accounting, bookkeeping and problem-solving skills.

Advertising Sales, 2010 - Present
Dolli is a true animal lover, and her extensive sales experience makes her a perfect match for Speedhorse. She has a Bachelors Degree in Advertising from the University of Oklahoma. She worked for The Metro Downtowner Newspaper in Oklahoma City as Advertising Director for 29 years. Dolli is now Senior Sales Director for Speedhorse.

Graphic Designer, 2021 - Present
Kristen is Oklahoma-born and raised. She has been passionate about horses from a young age and started riding horses competitively at the age of 12. Kristen started volunteering at the Heritage Place Sales in the fall of 2015 and was introduced to the Quarter Horse Racing world, and ultimately, Speedhorse. Kristen received her graphic design education at Canadian Valley Technology Center and shortly after accepted a design job with Genesee Photo Systems - Party Pix. Years later, after she moved back to the city, the opportunity to be part of Speedhorse arose. When the horse world isn't consuming her time, Kristen likes to spend time with her husband, daughter, and their three dogs.

Graphic Designer/Production Asst., July 2021 - Present
Jennifer graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. She has worked as a staff writer and photojournalist for several daily Oklahoma newspapers. Her work has been published in the New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and most every other major news publication. She has also freelanced for the Associated Press, Oklahoma Magazine and the Oklahoma Tourism Department, among others. Before joining Speedhorse, Jennifer also worked for two weekly newspapers where she became well versed in all aspects of print production and management – including advertising, graphic design/layout, circulation and legal publishing. She has earned a long list of awards for advertising design, layout, reporting and photography from The Associated Press, Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists and the Oklahoma Press Association.
